The LabQuest represents a major breakthrough in the use of technology for science education and sets a new benchmark for ease of use. The LabQuest allows the simultaneous connection of six sensors via its 4 analogue and 2 digital ports. A major benefit of the LabQuest is its compatibility with the majority of your existing Vernier sensors (some older sensors may require adaptor cables). Used in the field the LabQuest allows immediate, powerful data analysis and storage. Data can be stored in the LabQuests's internal 40MB memory or on an external USB thumbdrive or SD card. In the laboratory the LabQuest can be used by itself but it can also be used as an interface to connect up to six sensors sensors to a Windows or Mac computer using the supplied USB cable. The colour screen displays graphs and tables of collected data and allows immediate data analysis, it also provides live readouts from connected sensors. The live readout from connected sensors allows the LabQuest to also be used as a simple meter without data logging. For example it could be used as a pH meter, voltmeter, thermometer or similar meter with the appropriate sensor connected. Icons and drop down menus on the LabQuest's colour touch-screen ensure that set-up is quick and easy. The icons and menus are accessed using the provided stylus which tucks neatly into the LabQuest's body, a tether ensures the stylus will not be lost. An optional lanyard allows the LabQuest to be secured to your body or clothing. LabQuest software updates are easily carried out by downloading updates to a USB drive or SD card and running the update program. A recent update has turned the LabQuest into a DUAL CHANNEL AUDIO SIGNAL GENERATOR. The LabQuest includes emulator software for Windows only. The emulator allows the computer's screen to display what would normally be seen on the LabQuest's screen. The emulator is a great way to capture LabQuest screen shots. With a data projector connected to the computer the emulator allows a whole class to view a LabQuest based experiment, it can also be used to show a class how to use the LabQuest.
