IEC Magnetic Needle and Stand
Order code: EM2070-001IEC MAGNETIC NEEDLE AND STAND
A magnetised needle 75mm long balances and pivots on a pin mounted vertically in a simple stand. The pivot fitted to the needle is made from brass in the form of a small socket that keeps the needle stable on the pin.
The south end of the needle is marked because it points to the north magnetic pole of the earth. The needle is used mainly to detect the presence of magnetic fields that will deflect the needle from its normal rest position.
