IEC MASS OF ELECTRON APPARATUS
The IEC Mass of Electron apparatus is a 'Magic Eye' tube mounted on a base with terminals to accept the heater voltage. Safety leads terminated in safety banana plugs can be connected to a high voltage source for the plate voltage.
When powered, a green 'fan of electrons' can be seen by viewing through the end of the tube.
Use a Constant Current power supply e.g. LB2622-002 to power an EM0090-001 IEC Air Cored Solenoid placed over the tube. As current passes through the solenoid the electron path is studied on the anode of the tube. The field at the centre of the solenoid causes the fan to curve (distort) and this curvature is measured to permit the approximate mass of an electron to be calculated.

Please note:
This updated Mass of Electron Apparatus does NOT connect to LB2622-001 or older models of LB2621-001 power supplies as the high voltage safety banana plugs are not compatible with their standard banana sockets.
The latest model of LB2621-001 has both standard and high voltage banana sockets for maximum compatibility between variants.
The older version of the Mass of Electron apparatus (pictured) had a base with terminals to accept both heater and plate voltages. The old version can connect to LB2622-001 and LB2621-001 power supplies.
