VERNIER LIGHT SENSOR
Vernier's Light Sensor approximates the human eye in spectral response and can be used over three different illumination ranges selected with a switch. Use it for inverse square law experiments, studying polarizers, reflectivity or solar energy.

The Light Sensor can be used for measurements of light intensity in a variety of situations:
• Perform inverse square light intensity experiments using a point source of light.
• Conduct polarized filter studies.
• Demonstrate the flicker of fluorescent lamps and other lamps.
• Carry out solar energy studies.
• Perform reflectivity studies.
• Study light intensity in various parts of a house or school.
• Use it as part of a study of plant growth to measure light intensity.

Requirements:
This sensor requires suitable software and an interface such as one of the Vernier LabQuest variations or Vernier Go-Link.
For comprehensive details of the possible sensor/interface/software combinations see the Compatibility Guide link below.

Specifications:
• Typical Resolution
     0–600 lux range: 0.2 lux
     0–6,000 lux range: 2 lux
     0–150,000 lux range: 50 lux
• Operating Temp: 0-70°C
• Power: 5V @ 3mA

This product is used in teaching these Australian Curriculum codes:
ACSSU020 - Physical Sciences - Light and Sound - Light and sound are produced by a range of sources and can be sensed
ACSBL021 - Biodiversity and the interconnectedness of life - Describing biodiversity - In addition to biotic factors, abiotic factors including climate and substrate can be used to and classify environments
ACSBL029 - Biodiversity and the interconnectedness of life - Ecosystem dynamics - Models of ecosystem interactions (for example, food webs, successional models) can be used to predict the impact of change and are based on interpretation of and extrapolation from sample data (for example, data derived from ecosystem surveying techniques
ACSSU073 - Biological Sciences - Animal Survival - Living things, including plants and animals, depend on each other and the environment to survive
ACSSU043 - Biological Sciences - Adaptations - Living things have structural features and adaptations that help them to survive in their environment
ACSSU078 - Earth and Space Sciences - Earth Moon Sun - The Earth is part of a system of planets orbiting around a star (the sun)
ACSSU080 - Physical Sciences - Light and Sound - Light from a source forms shadows and can be absorbed, reflected and refracted
ACSSU094 - Biological Sciences - Adaptations - The growth and survival of living things are affected by the physical conditions of their environment
ACSSU155 - Physical Sciences - Energy Forms - Energy appears in different forms, including movement (kinetic energy), heat and potential energy, and energy transformations and transfers cause change within systems
ACSSU176 - Biological Sciences - Ecology - Ecosystems consist of communities of interdependent organisms and abiotic components of the environment; matter and energy flow through these systems
ACSSU182 - Physical Sciences - Energy Transfer - Energy transfer through different mediums can be explained using wave and particle models
